Glasgow Science Centre Tower

We were asked to conduct an assessment of risk, and formulate a rescue plan for a Technical Line Rescue from the observation area, maintenance area & both lifts of the Tower. In the event that any lift having mechanical failure and the back up lift was unable to be used for some reason. We conducted trials of varies scenarios and methods with both able bodied and disabled as well as stretcher cases.

It was agreed that a cableway evacuation with rescue seat and accompanied stretcher lower would be the best methods in all events. The centre keeps all necessary equipment required for various types of rescue on location. We continue to train on the tower to respond in the event of an emergency.
